IN MEMORY OF GREG BOLAR

MAY 6, 1966 - JANUARY 30, 2004

A FOND FAREWELL TO A FAITHFUL FRIEND

"A faithful friend is a sturdy shelter;
he who finds one finds a treasure.
A faithful friend is beyond price,
no sum can balance his worth."
- Sirach 6:14-15

On Friday, January 30, 2004, Holy Wisdom Parish and the neighborhood communities of North Side, Spring Hill, and Troy Hill lost a faithful friend with the sudden death of Greg Bolar at the age of 37.

A man of many talents and active in numerous ministries in the parish, Greg served as the Parish Community Relations Representative, working as a liaison between the parish and the surrounding community. Holy Wisdom Parish was the only parish in the diocese having this office as a staff level position. One of his greatest accomplishments in this unique position was the development and maintenance of our parish web site which receives many visits and complimentary acknowledgments. Greg also served as an Usher and Member of the Transportation Ministry. His greatest enjoyment in parish life was his membership on the Festival Core Committee. His aggressive and active pursuit of new and innovative ideas and attractions helped our festival grow into one of the largest and finest in the diocese. It is truly an event that involves the entire parish and which we can all be justly proud. Always willing to help, Greg offered consulting assistance and services to many parishes and institutions regarding their fundraising endeavors.

Greg truly enjoyed meeting people and made new friends quickly with his energetic and gregarious personality. Being of service and helpful to others came naturally to him.

Greg is survived by his wife, Brucie, and their three sons: Gregory, 13; Gordon, 10; and Grant, 4 months; his father, Steven, and brother, Steven III. An education fund has been established for the Bolar Children. Contributions can be made directly to the Bolar Education Fund.

Our sympathy and assurance of prayerful support is extended to his family and friends. Although it will be hard to imagine Greg at rest, may his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
